Learning from the past, and moving toward the future

The U.S. government has declared the swine flu a public health emergency. As of April 27, 2009, there have been 40 cases of confirmed swine flu in the states of California, Kansas, New York City, Ohio and Texas. The swine flu outbreaks anguish many countries all around the globe. The World Health Organization (WHO) coordinates the global response to human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) and monitoring the corresponding threat of an influenza pandemic.
