Obama to Push Immigration Bill Despite the Risks
“It just doesn’t seem rational that any political leader would say, let’s give millions of foreign workers permanent access to U.S. jobs when we have millions of Americans looking for jobs,†said Roy Beck, executive director of NumbersUSA, a group that favors reduced immigration. Mr. Beck predicted that Mr. Obama would face “an explosion†if he proceeded this year.
“It’s going to be, ‘You’re letting them keep that job, when I could have that job,’ †he said.
As you may have already know, the strong opposition to immigrations are Republicans. However, I feel like Americans who really strongly oppose immigration afraid of the competition with the immigrants. I mean, if they are good and qualified for the job, then they shouldn’t have been worried about it at the first place!
April Fools: NYU Accepts Grad Students by Mistake
NEW YORK (AP) — New York University officials weren’t laughing when hundreds of people mistakenly received word that they’d been accepted to grad school on April Fools’ Day.
NYU says it sent out acceptance e-mails April 1 to 489 applicants to the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Those applicants should have received rejection letters instead.
The school sent out a second e-mail about an hour later to the applicants, saying they hadn’t been accepted after all.
NYU spokesman Robert Polner blamed the mixup on a clerical error. He says the school apologizes for the mistaken e-mails and is looking into it to prevent it from happening again.

A good thing that this doesn’t happen to me. It could have been very embarassing! Though, Google fooled me with its Cognitive Autoheuristic Distributed-Intelligence Entity (CADIE).

Wrapping Up Open for Questions
The initial run of Open for Questions came to a close with the President’s online town hall this morning. With almost a hundred thousand participants and more than three and a half million votes, it was an eye-opening experience and showed the potential of what this kind of open engagement can accomplish. The online town hall had an amazing feel of something that had never been done before, and something we should be trying to do more of.
Cities Deal With a Surge in Shanty Towns

FRESNO, Calif. — As the operations manager of a homeless outreach center here, Paul Stack is used to seeing people down on their luck. What he had never seen before was people living in tents and lean-tos on the railroad lot across from the center.
“They just popped up about 18 months ago,†Mr. Stack said. “One day it was empty. The next day, there were people living there.â€
