Facebook News Feed Spam

I found there are so many similar post lately on Facebook (such as the one that is shown above). Be careful. When you click the link, it will direct you to a spam-y site that will tempt you to click some of the stuff on the page. I didn’t even bother to explore around, but you could expect that they will make some pop-ups or inject some Spywares or Adwares. Even that’s not enough, but as soon as you click News Feed link (above), it will also be shared as on your profile as a link that you like.

A Connection Cannot be Established to the Facebook Server

I noticed this error on my Facebook application this morning. Yesterday, I failed updating my Blackberry’s operating system from the Blackberry Desktop Manager. Luckily, I selected the option of “Automatically Backup during Upgrade”, and successfully Restored all of my data. However, for some reason I couldn’t use the Facebook application on my Blackberry. The error message that is displayed by the application is the title of this post: “A Connection Cannot be Established to the Facebook Server“, I googled and found that there are many people who are experiencing the same problem, but there isn’t a simple straight answer to the solution. As far this post seems to be the most straightforward answer, but to those who aren’t really familiar with Blackberry (like me), it might be a bit doubting. So here’s a step by step solution that I did to fix this problem:

1. Go to options –> advanced options –> host routing table
2.  Press the option button (blackberry symbol) on your device, a small menu should show up
3. Select Register Now

Wait for a couple for seconds, then try your Facebook application, which should be working now. Note that in the post that I linked above, it suggested you to delete the WAP browser, I didn’t do this step because I’m afraid that I might messed it up even more!

Another Facebook Bug

All of the sudden, I just see that the comment on my wall post is gone, there are two possibilities, either the Commenter deleted it, or it’s another Facebook’s bug. Although the second option is very unlikely, but that’s what I found out.

When I go to my profile, the URL would look like this:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=[ number ]&ref=profile

However, when I go to my profile, and then click the Wall tab again, the URL would looks like this:

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=[ number ]&ref=profile#/profile.php?id=1164166702&v=wall&ref=profile

See the difference? I could see the comments on the second URL, but not the first. I deleted all of my browsing histories and caches, and tested on both the latest release of Google Chromium and Mozilla Firefox browsers. Therefore, I conclude that this is definitely another Facebook’s bug. I don’t understand why there’s so many bugs that I could find in Facebook lately.
